Era
samadhi 1947
Samadhi date
28 April 1947

Sri Shankar Maharaj, considered an avatar of Shiva, was a remarkable avadhut capable of great siddhis and even greater spiritual blessings. Maharaj spoke with a lisp, so he did not give public satsangs himself, but he was fluent in every language. When questioned on this, he explained: “He who understands the principle which is beyond the source of all languages and who becomes one with it, knows any language, even the language of animals and birds."
