Sri Rang Avadhoot was a saint-poet belonging to the Dattatreya tradition and is credited with greatly expanding its influence in the state of Gujarat. He authored more than forty-five works, including many hymns and devotional songs centered on spirituality and divine love. For a time, he worked as a teacher and actively participated in various social and political activities. In 1923, however, he renounced all worldly pursuits and came to Nareshvar to focus on his spiritual calling.
