Sri Mekan Dada
Sri Mekan Dada roamed Saurashtra feeding the poor and came to be known as “Mekan Kavadiyo." To rescue travelers lost in the harsh Kutch desert, he sent his donkey Laliyo with food and water, guided by his dog Motiyo, renowned for scenting stranded people from afar. He opposed untouchability and taught that all humans are equal. Mekan Dada lived 63 years. Near the end of his life at Dhrang, he declared he would take samadhi while alive. Eleven disciples joined him there, while thirty others took samadhi elsewhere. Many believe they remain alive in spirit.
