Married at the age of twelve, he soon lost interest in worldly life and devoted himself to spirituality through kirtans and bhajans. At sixteen, he met Tukaram Maharaj and became his close disciple, writing devotional psalms that awakened spiritual consciousness. His works include Shankar Deepika, Yogachi Wat, Nirgunachya Lavnya, and Tel Sindhu. When Tukaram’s Gatha was destroyed by opponents, Santaji took on the mission of restoring it. Using his memory, his own notes, and verses remembered by disciples, he painstakingly reconstructed the abhangs and gave the Gatha a second life. His devotion and literary efforts ensured Tukaram’s teachings remained immortal in the hearts of the people.
