Tradition
Swami Gagangiri Maharaj is one of the most influential yogis of modern India. He left home at the tender age of seven and joined the Nath Sampradaya Math at Battees-Shirala. The Nath tradition, with over 1,600 monasteries across India, emphasizes yoga, self-realization, and disciplined austerity. From early youth, Maharaj accompanied senior Nath Mahants on long pilgrimages across India. As he grew independent, he spent decades in solitude, exploring the inner worlds of yoga and tantra, and gaining knowledge of subtle energies, the spirit realm, and the mysteries of life and death.
