Mata Sahib Kaur Ji was the third wife of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. She was absorbed in service and divine contemplation from a young age. When the time came to marry her off, her family could think of no better match than Guru Gobind Singh Ji himself. Initially, he declined, but finally he accepted her as a spiritual wife. They would have no marital relations, but she would serve him and become mother to the Khalsa. To this day, when Sikhs are initiated into the Khalsa, they accept her as their mother.
