Bhagat Puran Singh Ji is a modern saint of the Sikh tradition. Called the “Mother Teresa of the Sikhs”, he gave his life to the service of those discarded by society—the disabled, the terminally ill, the mentally handicapped. His mission was sparked by the arrival of a young toddler with leprosy, deafness, and a mental handicap. When no one else stepped up to care for the boy, Bhagat Puran Singh adopted him as his own, naming him Piara Singh—the Loved One.
