It is difficult to live up to such a father as Guru Nanak Dev Ji, but if anyone was up to the task, it was Baba Sri Chand. The Shiva to his father's Vishnu, he taught a path that seemed so different from his father's - on the outside. But both saints preached that the Absolute Divine Truth is One without a second. The truth is one, but the paths are many. The stories of Sri Chand's long and mysterious life are equal parts mystical and momentous. Perhaps equally miraculous was the way he drew people of all faiths, including Muslim emperors, and bridged the gaps between these different paths. When Guru Hargobind, the sixth Sikh guru, was imprisoned by Jahangir, it was Sri Chand who intervened to have him released. He ended his public life with one last, great miracle: he stepped on a stone and commanded it to take him across the river. On the other side, he walked into the forest, never to be seen again.
