Jalaram Bapa was a Hindu saint from Gujarat, India. From an early age, Jalaram Bapa dedicated his life to serving pilgrims, sadhus, and the needy. At sixteen, he married Virbai, daughter of Pragjibhai Thakkar of Atkot. Despite his inclination toward an ascetic life, Virbai fully supported his mission of feeding the poor and serving humanity. According to tradition, a visiting sadhu gifted him a deity of Lord Rama and foretold the arrival of Hanuman. Soon after, idols of Hanuman, Sita, and Lakshman are said to have appeared miraculously. It is also believed that his grain stores became inexhaustible, enabling continuous service to others. Jalaram Bapa’s fame grew as a saint of compassion and equality. People of all castes and religions, including Hindus and Muslims, were welcomed and fed in Virpur. This tradition of selfless service continues there to this day.
